At Tiwi College, all students begin their day with a book! As part of the reading program, students join together in small groups, along with an adult helper and read for half an hour.

Short stories or books on topics as varied as tsunamis, Walking on the moon and Hip Hop music enable the students to gain exposure to a wide variety of subject matter whilst also having the opportunity to ask and answer questions about chosen topics.

The development of good literacy skills for all students is integral to the objectives of the College.

We can’t think of a better or more engaging way to start the day.
